The Chidlom and Ploenchit areas are two of the most thriving shopping districts of central Bangkok. There are many shopping malls, street markets and other attractions in these areas and you’ll appreciate having an easy way to get around. Fortunately, our hotel is just around the corner from Ploenchit BTS, on Sukhumvit Soi 2, giving you a cheap and convenient way to travel around Bangkok via the BTS Skytrain system.

Here are just a few of the ‘must see’ things in this area:

The Erawan Shrine Just one station away on the BTS Skytrain is Chidlom station, overlooking the famous Erawan Shrine. This Brahman shrine was built in the 1950s and attracts many tourists every day – it is well worth a visit!

CentralWorld shopping complex Bangkok’s biggest shopping mall, with over half a million square meters of shopping and attractions.

Elements Restaurant If you’re looking for a world class dining experience, look no further than Elements on the 25th floor of the Okura Prestige Hotel.

Zense Rooftop Bar On the 17th floor of CentralWorld is the Zense Rooftop Bar, with a relaxed atmosphere and amazing views. All the best shopping that Bangkok has to offer is easily accessible from our hotel near Ploenchit BTS.

We also run a free 24-hour Tuk-Tuk service to drop you at the BTS station. But, if you’d prefer to walk, here’s how to get to the BTS: just exit our hotel onto Sukhumvit Soi 2 then turn right. Walk up Soi 2, then turn left at the main road. Walk along the main road for a few minutes and you will see some stairs with a sign leading up to Ploenchit station. Note that Ploenchit is pronounced PLERN-JIT and sometimes spelled ‘Phloen Chit’.

If you’re planning to use the BTS Skytrain (and we recommend it as a good way to avoid the Bangkok traffic) here are some things you should know:

  • The BTS opens from 6:30am until midnight, with the last trains leaving at around 11:40pm
  • The ticket system at most BTS stations coin-operated and t’s common for some coins not to work in the machines. As such, it’s a good idea to carry extra change with you
  • Our hotel is near Ploenchit BTS, but Nana BTS station is also just walking distance from our Sukhumvit Soi 4 exit
  • Siam and Asoke stations can get very busy at peaks times, so it may be best to avoid these stations at rush hour It is very useful to stay in a hotel near Ploenchit BTS station, because this is one of the central stations, but not as busy as Siam or Asoke stations.

You’ll find Lohas Residences is a comfortable and affordable option of where to stay near Ploenchit BTS.
