Visiting the bustling metropolis of Bangkok, we recommend staying in a hotel near Ploenchit BTS Skytrain station, giving you hassle-free travel around the city. It’s a well-known fact that the traffic in Bangkok can get very busy. While taxis can be a convenient way to travel during off-peak times (ideally very late in the evening), it’s often the case, especially at night, that metered taxis may refuse to use the meter, wishing to charge tourists extra for travelling only short distances. The best way to handle this is to confirm with the taxi driver that they’ll use the meter before getting into the taxi – if you want to say this in Thai, simply say PERT METER NA KRUP.

The BTS Skytrain is a great alternative, making getting around ‘The Big Mango’ very easy. Lohas Residences hotel near Ploenchit BTS runs a free tuk-tuk service to the BTS station, making it easy to get around Bangkok, taking in all the sights and experiences this great city has to offer.

Ploenchit BTS Skytrain station is just a couple of minutes from our hotel by motorbike or taxi. If you’d prefer to walk, it’s about 10 minutes: exit the hotel onto Sukhumvit Soi 2 and turn right, walk along Soi 2 about 5 minutes, turning left at the main road (you’ll see a Starbucks on the corner). Walk down Sukhumvit Road for a few minutes and you will reach the stairs leading up to Ploenchit BTS Skytrain station.

Our hotel is near Ploenchit BTS, but BTS Nana is also walking distance away and we have an exit directly onto Sukhumvit Soi 4 (Soi Nana). If you’re planning to use the BTS Skytrain to get around Bangkok, getting a ‘Rabbit Card’ can save you time and hassle. At peak times, there will be many people queuing at most Skytrain stations to get coins to buy tickets. Go to Ploenchit BTS station and ask to buy a ‘Rabbit Card’, which is a travel pass that you top up with cash. You can then get in and out of Skytrain stations quickly and easily. It is also best to avoid Siam and Asoke BTS Skytrain stations at peak times, as these stations get very busy - unless you enjoy the bustle!

Staying in a hotel near Ploenchit BTS Skytrain station can be the best way to enjoy Bangkok and everything it has to offer. And Lohas Residences is a great choice that is close to the BTS, but not too close to all the noisy traffic for comfort!
